The Experience
Presented by the Olathe Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) and held at the historic Commemorative Air Force Hangar, this unforgettable evening is more than a dance... it’s a step into history.
Guests are encouraged to dress in their 1940s best to fully embrace the charm and spirit of the era. From retro table décor to nostalgic photo opportunities, you’ll be transported back to a time when swing was king and community gatherings brought people together in celebration.
Dance the night away to live music from The KC Variety Band, performing favorite hits from the World War II era. Don’t know the steps? No problem! A dance instructor will be there to guide guests through popular dances of the day, including the Jitterbug, Lindy, and Swing.

Silent Auction
The Hangar Dance will also feature a Silent Auction with many exciting offerings, including a ride in a 1940s Stearman Trainer airplane, tickets to Kansas City sporting events, gift certificates to local restaurants, handcrafted home decor items, and a myriad of treasures donated by local businesses and individuals.

Vintage Jewelry Sale
The Hangar Dance will also feature a Vintage Jewelry Sale. Come find your "bling," from a variety of beautiful pieces donated by DAR members. Earrings, necklaces, bracelets, rings, brooches and other lovely accessories will be available at very reasonable prices.
Pick out a few 'must have' favorites and head to the check out table for payment. Cashless transactions are preferred.
Custom Dog Tags
The Commemorative Air Force (CAF) will offer authentic made-to-order dog tags with custom imprints for sale.
Guests can create their dog tag (with chain and silencer) while they wait at the dance. Dog tags can include names of favorite service persons or any other imprint!
(Suggested donation: $10)

The CAF Hangar will feature vintage military aircraft and other vehicles on display, as well as an opportunity to tour their museum of historic military artifacts.
($5 suggested donation for museum entrance)
